Adopt a Dive Site - June

updates

Our chosen site in the historic Patent Slip - Cog Park in Wellington Harbour. Originally used to haul boats up for repairs and maintenance there is still a lot to see along the old slipway including the rails, winches and cogs.

Our first dive here as part of this campaign collected over 200l or 60+kg of marine debris. There were a large number of glass bottles (old & new) as well as other drink and food containers, some fishing gear, sunglasses, a phone and part of a high chair.

We barely got to explore the site before our catchbags were over full and it was time to head back in and empty them. A couple of trips to a maximum depth of 7m for 36 minutes and it was time to decritter and record the debris.

We can't wait for next months dive and to see what happens with the amount and types of debris we collect over the coming year.
