Matiu-Somes 2016

updates

Our annual dive trip to Matiu-Somes Island in Wellington harbour took place over the first weekend of the new year. 8 divers braved some rather dubious conditions as we headed across on the ferry to th eDepartment of Conservation protecetd island

We were there for our annual beach & underwater clean up bewteen the wharves. We were pleased to not that there was not a lot of rubbish collected between the 4 teams of divers. Amongst the unusal objects were a fishing rod, a kettle and a rubber chicken!

The dive itself was interesting with a sunken barge and lots of fish life to see including a school of moki and terakihi, stargazers and a few kingi crusing past.
