Field trip students lucky to see a turtle in the wild!

updates

Our University of South Wales (USW) field trip students were lucky to see a turtle in the wild, on their 5th annual tropical ecology survey in the TAR marine park with Downbelow’s dive operations!

Our premier PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre and island staff team of PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors are always delighted to see university groups arriving to learn more about our local Kota Kinabalu area and volunteer in marine conservation too!

In between their field trip studies, which included visual census surveys, our island staff team organise beach and underwater clean up projects to collect marine debris to contribute to the health of our coral reef ecosystem. As far as our programs for travelling groups, the importance of marine conservation is emphasised throughout, and to see marine life in the natural habitat along the reefs of TARP makes the contribution that much more satisfying.

Several of the USW field study students spotted a freely-swimming green turtle species pass by during their dive spent recording coral and fish species along a line transect. To witness nature alive and well makes our efforts worthwhile and why PADI professionals are inspired to Go PRO, as well as encourage their student divers to do the same!
