PADI Instructors introduce Go PRO intern Majda to the conservation benefits of underwater photography

updates

Our Downbelow team are big supporters of the Project AWARE movement, showing our commitment by regularly cleaning the beaches and the coral reefs of marine debris.

Majda is one of our Go PRO PADI Divemaster interns who is learning what benefits underwater photography offers to the preservation of our marine environment.

Her mentor, PADI IDC Staff Instructor Tim, conducts the PADI Digital Underwater Photography Specialty for his Go PRO student diver.

Tim will train Majda to the highest standard of dive training, but also educate her how photography is a medium to utilise for increasing public awareness of the various plights that threaten our environment.

Any conservation programs conducted at our premier PADI 5 Star IDC beach house on Gaya Island is documented and publicised.

Within the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, where our beach house is based, sometimes an illegal fishing net can be found suffocating the fragile coral reefs.

A group of the island team and our Go PRO interns arrange dives to remove the damaging nets.

One member of the team will dedicate some bottom time to recording the effect that the smothering of a net has on biological productivity.

Media is an avenue that we utilise to the best of our abilities to reach marine enthusiasts’ worldwide!

Share photography to help save our underwater world!
