Annual beach clean up with Cardiff University!

updates

With each annual tropical ecology field trip, Cardiff University students also assist our island staff team in an annual beach clean up around the beach in front of our premier PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre!

Recently, the seasons have changed in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah; now we are experiencing the ‘wet season’, which means when it rains it really pours!

Rain is almost always accompanied with wind, and this causes improperly disposed litter to find its way into the seas and oceans. When in the marine ecosystem, the harmful pollutant is called marine debris, and one pollutant the Project AWARE organisation is tackling with a campaign to educate the public on its effective management.

Cardiff University find a lot of value in contributing to the efforts of collecting marine debris, which our Sabah Travel Centre incorporate into their educational program to learn more of the natural biodiversity found in Borneo!

They will also be visiting the Shangri-La Rasa Ria Resort’s Orang Utan Sanctuary, where they will learn about the value of ecotourism through the valuable conservation work to protect the ‘wildman of Borneo’!
