Campers collect neverending marine debris.

updates

It seems an endless chore with the nevereding marine debris that our Camps International adventurers’ are so selflessly assisting our island staff team to collect from the beaches in front of our premier PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre!

Group ‘Tarsier’, the 6th group of students to visit our premier PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre in Kota Kinabalu’s TAR marine park, just completed their camping experience, and now the latest group ‘Monyet’ (meaning ‘monkey’ in Malay) have arrived. They too will contribute to collecting the constant barrage of marine debris caught in our sheltered coves and bays at Gaya Island due to rainfall and winds of our seasonal Monsoon weather. It seems fate for schools in the UK to have the longest holiday period in summer, in which time as many enthusiatic young adventurers’ such as the 300+ who visit us on an annual basis can make such hard work (to protect our environment) as light as possible; and it’s wonderfully fulfilling for them to do something positive, especially after all participants just tried SCUBA for the first time ever on our PADI Discover Scuba Diving program, and many continued to qualify as PADI Open Water Diver!
