Students of Cardiff University Are Now Better Skilled for Underwater Research

updates

It feels like an adventure story that ended too soon. That is how we felt when we bid our goodbyes to students of Cardiff University who ended their 2-weeks field study at our PADI 5-Star IDC Dive Centre on Gaya Island, Borneo.

Even though they were here to study and practise how to research and gather data from the ocean, it must have felt like they were on a 2-weeks adventure trip!

Not only did they meet their study objectives and qualify as PADI Open Water Course Divers, they also participated in an act of conservation as they removed a dumped fishing net at the protected marine park. They will also find it hard to forget how their underwater research practise was "interrupted" twice - first by a turtle and then a rare porcupine stingray!

We have to admit that we have a soft spot for students who are taking ocean-related courses such as these future marine scientists. This is because any important decision made by that government of the world that will impact the ocean and the environment will be made based on the research and findings that these scientists will present.

That is why we were so happy to be involved in sharing our knowledge and helping them to become better divers and underwater ambassadors!
