Downbelow have fun policing the coral reefs of Tunku Abdul Rahman Park!

updates

Protecting our coral reefs in the protected Tunku Abdul Rahman Park is a team effort that every member of the team dedicates gladly!

Downbelow regularly host group activities to educate on the facts of environmental health in our local area.

One of our large groups of adventurers’ are from Denmark, who visit Borneo’s state of Sabah to explore the beautiful biodiversity! Their time with us in Sabah is spent discovering the many attractions of which we integrate into their adventure program.

During their stay in Borneo, they learn to dive or continue their dive education at our premier PADI 5 Star IDC beach house on Gaya Island!

As well as learning to scuba dive, the Danish adventurers’ are educated on the existing dangers to coral reef productivity and what efforts are there to prevent the decline of coral species.

A presentation is delivered with visual aids for efficient learning, and an open discussion on the visible threats within our own local area is valuable to relate the educational material to their experience of diving with us.

To include within the presentation, is their personal actions and habits to make a difference, such as volunteer projects.

As part of our commitment to the Project AWARE campaign to rid our oceans of marine debris, our island team regularly conduct underwater and beach clean-ups.

Our visiting Danish friends don’t hesitate to assist us each morning they are camping at our beach house on Gaya Island! The effect of cleaning the beaches of the washed up waste is shocking, as the quantity is staggering, however the goodwill felt is profound.

Downbelow are grateful to all our adventurous Danish groups in the past and our team look forward to inspiring our friends in the future!
