Marine conservation keeps professional divers diving!

updates

Professional divers will continue their marine activism beyond their instructional career because marine conservation is one of the biggest reasons they continue working underwater.

If ever an Instructor retired, their passion to protect our seas and oceans remains vigilant. Resident Platinum PADI Course Director Richard Swann isn’t planning on retiring anytime soon, if ever!

Once again, the latest ghost net removal project our Downbelow operations have conducted is the 4th one in just over a months’ time. Efficiently, Richard and a team of our full time and dedicated  PADI Instructors relieve a patch of coral reef in Tunku Abdul Rahman marine park from the smotherings of an illegally discarded fishing net.

From Project AWARE, the team brought along mesh bags which were gifted to Downbelow from the foundation of like-minded marine activists’. The bags were really useful for collecting small clippings of the net and avoid divers getting entangled.

We’re really looking forward to executing a further conservation project of coral re-planting to restore life back into the damaged area, so if anyone wants to contribute with us, get in touch because the more the merrier and the faster we see a positive difference!
