Learning about marine tourism through SCUBA!

updates

From Politeknik Sandakan, a group of 30 students experienced an unforgettable day of learning about marine tourism thorugh SCUBA!

PADI Instructors of all levels fromOpen Water Scuba Instructor to Platinum PADI Course Director, conducted our exciting 1-day ‘Try Dive’ PADI Scuba Diver program. During their day with our dive operations, they learnt so much through scuba diving…rather than reading about the theory of others’ experiencing it!

There’s no better way to inspire others about the importance of protecting and preserving our natural marine environment in the local Tunku Abdul Rahman marine park than actually getting them into the water and seeing what ‘all the fuss is about’!

Azhar is one of our most recently qualified PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors who is getting so much awesome experience in motivating his student divers to be Project AWARE divers as he is, and support the various campaigns of the movement. One campaign, which is very dear to our island staff team of PADI professionals at our premier PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre, is the banning of shark finning. Azhar relates his experiences of guiding his guests to particular dive sites where the migration of blacktip reef sharks is a frequent occurrence. This is a huge benefit for the Politeknik Sandakan students whose studies focus on tourism and the marine tourism in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, has the potential to thrive exponentially due to the incredible marine biodiversity.
