This weekend I will be presenting at Beneath the Sea about two of my life passion, my daily work and my conservation efforts. On Saturday March 28th I will present "The ten most asked questions about sharks" and on Sunday March 29th I will present "The connection that didn't exist". The first subject collects the ten most asked questions I have received in the last 20 years about sharks. It is intended to respond to those questions, but also to raise the awareness and understanding towards sharks as it is very neeeded. The questions are so set up to allow the public to receive the information they crave, but also to show them that "shark" has a bigger meaning than the few species we are familiar with. It is intended to answer and to create new questions and to open our minds about the amazing variety of the shark world and our interaction with it. The second presentation is about a connection, first one in history, between a land based cave and an ocean blue hole in the Bahamas. This connection was said to not exist and many exploreres before had abbandoned the attempt, till one day, on December 31st 2012, after many years of exploration, attempts and failures, I was able to enter one way and exit the other. This project was in conjunction with a conservation project on a different cave system and connecting the two entrances has allowed me to prove the travel of water underground and the need to protect areas even if in appearance disconnected from the cave and fresh water source in question. The diffuculties of this exploration were numerous, from tidal changes, to extreme bad visibility, to chemicals in the water that damaged the line indicating the way out and the need to time the entrances and exits of these dives with the tides to avoid becoming trapped.
