Every little counts

updates

Coral Grand Divers had another Project Aware Day organized to create and establish awareness for our marine environment. A group of our dive staff involving instructors, divemasters as well as Divemaster Trainees focused on having a beach clean up near our dive center located on Sairee Beach, Koh Tao and an underwater clean up at our house reef in Sairee.

The beach clean up on the north end of Sairee Beach was mainly concentrated on bits and pieces people left like cigarette butts and plastic bits as well as ropes and bigger pieces of junk caught in between rocks and trees. Our group managed to collect around 20 kgs of rubbish over a time span of 1 1/2 hours. After a lunch break we planned a shore dive to find and pick up as much marine debris as we can just out on our house reef in front of Coral Grand Divers. In a 75 minutes dive we were able to collect various items such as plastic and glass bottles as well as a boat propeller and more.

All in all we had another great Project Aware day which allowed us to show our commitment to the environment we work in and love so much. It might have been a smaller event than the last two Project Aware events, however we must not forget that every little step in this matter counts and that 25 kgs less debris in the ocean means 25 kgs towards it's health, stability and beauty. Thanks for all helping hands and the voluntary effort our team put into this event and we're looking forward to another great event coming up in June.!
