Coral Watch Project: Marsa Shouni Kebir, Marsa Allam

updates

Following the success of the Coral Watch started on a nearby reef named Ras El Torfa, two more areas began a regular place to be monitored.

The North reef of Marsa Shouni Kebir is a popular reef visited by many Safari and daily boats, and is home to a stunning reef with an abundance of marine life including huge turtles, massive black stingrays, and is frequently visited by pods of spinner dolphins.

The survey began on the 8th November, and then again on the 4th December 2011, and shall be continued as close to the first of each month.

Every month I have been asking guests of Emperor Divers Marsa Allam, to participate in the Coral Watch survey and do their bit for the coral reefs!

Guests were also enthusiastic to take the AWARE Coral Reef Conservation Speciality Course at the same time enabling them to have some recognition of their efforts and earn themself a qualification at the same time!
