Chaweng Beach underwater clean up, Koh Samui in Thailand, 6th October 2012

updates

Today it was time for the clean up on Chaweng Beach on tropical island destination Koh Samui in Thailand, sponosred by the Souther Chapter of the THA (Thailand Hotel Assocation)

The local professional dive community was invited to participate but the turn out was a little bit below expectations. Most dive centeres where busy diving today but all staff of 'The Dive Academy' showed up and showed their environmental support!

The usual suspects were fished out of the underwater environemnt; shoes, snorkel masks, pvc pipes, plastic and glass bottles, ropes, buckets etc.

We managed to fill 6 big black garbage bags between us!

Thanks to Paul, Claire (who unfortunately broke her toe on a metal piece on the beach!), Chris, Callan, Simon, Eric and Bruce and special thanks to our beach team Nit, Noi, Pim and Mon!

There was also a beach clean up at a different part in Chaweng, at North Chaweng near Papillon resort, where some 50 staff of hotels located at Chaweng Beach participated, thanks to all volunteers who helped out! Lots of trash got collected.

More thanks goes to John of THA Samui and Tim Hunt, PADI regional manager!
