The theme of this year’s European Shark Week was to put pressure on EU Fisheries Ministers to close loopholes in the finning ban.  Supporting The Shark Alliance and Project AWARE, we held a pub quiz in the Camel Bar on our Diver’s Night on Tuesday 23rd October.  Among the traditional trivia and music rounds, we tested our entrants’ knowledge of the Apex predator.  Prizes for the winning teams and the fundraising raffle were donated by all the outlets at Camel Dive Club and Hotel.  Eco Tribe’s Cath presented Project AWARE at the UK dive show with money raised on the night.  She also took an envelope to The Shark Trust with donations from the sales of our Hammerhead t-shirt.  Due to the abundance of sightings at Jackson Reef over the summer, the Tribe shop sold a record 112 t-shirts!  Let’s hope this is the shape of things to come and that the scalloped hammerhead makes it onto Appendix II  - the list that ensures trade is controlled - at CITES 2013.
