Dive Against Debris - 18 September 2014
Calypso divers, IDC candidates and staff all jumped in to Dive Against Debris this 18th September!
Marine debris does more than just spoil the beauty of our oceans; it is also a silent killer, choking and entangling marine animals and smothering coral reefs.
We were pleased to see that the white beach dive site did not have much trash. Nevertheless, after searching, the 14 divers did take out a total of 34kg of marine debris, including some plastic bags and nylon line that can choke and entangle animals. So it was certainly a very worthwhile afternoon.
Thanks to everyone that helped out on the dive, and with the sorting and data recording. Well done!
