100 Days of Clean Up - Days 76 - 86

updates

It’s day 86 and the past 11 days have been very heavy. We are proud to announce that we reached another milestone in our fight against marine debris: 750,8kg.

During the last 11 days our Diveteam and the guests did some heavy work. An average of 19.3kg was picked up during each dive. Our heaviest was day 84 with 29.6kg brought up during one dive only. We fished out a lot of construction material like metals and lumber pieces and that stuff is heavy. The neverending list of curiousities includes the motor of a blender, a car mirror, cellphone batteries, countless pieces of floor mats, many flags and a cassette amongst others. Soon we'll be also able to play with our own set of cards, considering that we pick up almost every day another one.

Now instead of spotting plastics everywhere we find nests. We call them like that because finding one means removing a lot of plastics and cans from a small gap between the corals. There seems to be still an endless amount of our usual suspects (plastics, cans and glass) down there.

Our photo today shows the team and their trash that made up our heaviest dive so far: our Instructor Mark and our DMs Helmi and Adam (not in the picture is Instructor Ron; he was too shy)
