From fishermen to PADI Rescue Divers

updates

Blue Guru are proud to share news on the development of 2 Thai twin fishermen who we last year trained as PADI Open Water divers with the aim of creating an alternative career path for them....

This season Tam & Toom have been employed full time as Blue Guru dive centre assistants. They perform vital dive shop tasks such as compressor maintenance, filling tanks and loading/unloading/washing kit. They also guide our trekking/village tours giving customers a genuine insight to rainforest nature & local community life.

Another of their key contributions has been finding our exciting new unmarked offshore dive sites, which has opened up a range of nearby dive sites with healthy corals & great marine life diversity.

And in terms of their personal development ...

Tam & Toom successfully completed their Advanced Open Water training at the end of last year. Last month they became Emergency First Responders & PADI Rescue Divers.

Their eagerness to learn is commendable - they are now developing their English speaking skills which is great for customer service & staff communications. Continuing to build their English language capability will also help them complete their Divemaster training next season and become truly effective ambassadors for local marine life conservation.
