Lizard Island Resort Dives against Debris

Focusing on Preventing Debris Underwater – One Dive at a Time

Scuba diving staff from Lizard Island Resort will Dive against Debris this July 1st 2016 at Anchor Bay (House Reef). As part of Lizard Islands commitment to protecting the ocean. Trained divers not only remove underwater debris such as glass bottles and debris from previous cyclones, but also identify and document everything we seen underwater in a larger effort to prevent marine debris.

Marine debris – or our trash in the ocean – makes its way to our underwater environments by the ton.  Lizard Island Resort along with divers around the world are demanding a permanent reduction in and prevention of the garbage we create that damages sensitive marine ecosystems - even in some of the most remote corners of the globe.

Scuba divers are uniquely positioned to tackle the global marine debris issue, to take action every day and prevent debris from entering the ocean. For more information on the Dive Against debris event taking place at Lizard Island Resort on July 1st visit our Facebook page or contact Bev at the Marine and Dive department.

“We will be training staff internally for the event and look forwards to working closely with Project AWARE as part of our commitment to maintaining the pristine waters that surround Lizard Island” says Bev.
