2013 starts with Lionfish Hunting

updates

Although a beautiful and much sought after Aquarium fish, the Caribbean Lionfish is an invasive speicies decimating the indigenous fish population. Efforts are being made to control the population thorugh spearfishing ; it only is a small chnage but a change nevertheless. In reefs regurlarly cleaned of lionfish by hunters the local fish recover and the reefs are abundant with life again.

However spearing a lionfish is a tricky and dangerous undetaking, as their venemous spines are still poisonous if after the fish already died. Once the spines are cut off with a scissor, the fish can be prepared as any other filet and is very tasty.
