Seahorse and Pipefish Population Survey

Begins
Ends
L'Escala, Spain

42.111754, 3.139236

Sightings of European seahorses, Hippocampus hippocampus and Hippocampus guttulatus are becoming more rare as their seagrass habitat is degraded by pleasure boat anchoring every summer. The Posidonia pipefish, Syngnathus typhle, is totally reliant on the Posidonia oceanica seagrass ecosystem.

To assess the true status of these Syngnathids Kenna Eco Diving is planning to carry out a full population survey. We invite volunteer divers with a keen interest in marine conservation to join us.
