5th June - World Environmental Day!

On 5th June 2012 http://absolutescubabali.com/ - "Absolute Scuba" will be hosting a Beach Clean Up Event in Padangbai - Bali!!  Starts @ 15:00hrs in the village parking lot!

Our aim is to get as many children from Padangbai village to come and join us and to participate in cleaning up the village's main beach and to have fun!  

The main issue we face here is the large amount of plastic waste that blows into the ocean and what washes up onto our beaches. The highlight is to collect as much plastic as possible and to enforce the issue about how important it is to recycyle items such as plastic bottles and bags. Ofcourse during the course of collecting the rubbish we will also record what types/amounts of rubbish is collected.

In the future we hope to get our village's support in promoting the use of recycable bags, creating awareness both to the locals and the tourists. 

We will also hold a drawing competition where children from the local schools will create a poster about "Caring For Our Environment & Ocean". They will submit their posters. 1 poster will then be chosen to be printed out and put on display in the village. 

This is a "trial run" for us, and we hope in the future to make this a reoccurring event!  We hope to gain as much support from our local community and others who are interested; so we can help people understand the importance of taking care of our fragile ecosystem.
