We would like to invite you to our 2014 edition of our annual underwater and beach clean-up on May 17th, 2014! This year, we are moving a little further north to Rye/Playland, which is in our backyard, as we are Westchester County's premiere scuba club.

Our mission is to draw on the spirit of the local diving community to continue our efforts against trash and marine debris, and educate the public on what we can do by joining forces to keep our backyard clean for generations to come.

This is our fifth annual event, and upwards of 200 divers and their friends as well as the surrounding communities to come together with a common goal of getting a local beach ready for the public to enjoy without having to worry about hazardous underwater and beach debris. The day begins early with diver registration, followed by beachcomber registration, and several hours of concentrated trash collection, recyclable sorting and documentation of the collected items. Following the clean-up will be a barbecue to thank the volunteers for their efforts.

This  event draws scuba clubs from the Tri-State area, school and youth clubs, community organizations, environmental organizations, dive shops, the media and other businesses. We encourage local businesses to join us, either by donating prizes, food or cash to cover costs. Donations will be honored by including an organization or business logo on large event banners displayed at the beach and bbq areas; major contributors will also be able to display a business/organization banner on site (sorry, the parks department does not allow display tables).

For further details contact Denise Kurz (Event Organization Chair) at [email protected] or Ruth Emblin (Marketing and Promotion Coordinator) at [email protected], if you have any questions or need more information,

We look forward to having you join us!
