Murrays Bay - Dive Against Debris
Ends
Our team of underwater ambassadors at Performance Diver will Dive Against Debris on Saturday 11th June 2016. And guess what… YOU CAN TOO.
Wether you are a diver or not YOU can get involved to help us keep our NZ waters clean. If you are already a diver and you would like to partake in the underwater survey either meet at 10.30am at the Performance Diver shop (if you need gear), or meet at 11.30am at Murrays Bay if you're shore support / have your own gear! If you are not already a diver, come along to get hands on with the beach sweep and assist the divers with the surveying. A BBQ and activities will be running at the beach in the afternoon also. So get amongst it and get inspired to become an ocean ambasador.
We are commitment to protecting the ocean, our trained divers not only remove underwater debris such as plastic bottles and fishing line, but also identify and document everything we seen underwater in a larger effort to prevent marine debris. Marine debris – or our trash in the ocean – makes its way to our underwater environments by the ton. The awesome news is you can help protect our sensitive marine ecosystems and spread AWAREness amongst out community.
"Many of us ask what can I, as one person, do, but history shows us that everything good and bad starts because somebody does something or does not do something."
— Sylvia Earle, Oceanographer
