The Fiji Government is getting very close to making a decision on banning commercial shark fishing in Fiji waters. It was shocking to learn last year that shark finning takes place legally in Fiji waters leading to the death of hundreds of thousands of sharks in Fiji waters. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCn5k1T8Yl0

Fiji's Ministry of Fisheries, and many other Government Departments are very supportive of the innitiative.  However discontent and concern is being raised by Fiji's Commerical Fishing Industry representatives, who shockinly claim that 30% of a commercial fisherman's wages come from the sale of shark fins!
