Hello everybody:

We will be doing a beach cleanup and "Dive Against Debris" in the Cay Sor Isolina Ferré in the Bay of Ponce. The purpose of our activity is to remove the debris and its classification to identify the type and origin, as well as identify which of them is the most abundant.  The data obtained will be part of what will be reported through the Virtual Network of Monitoring  (http://recursos-marinos.weebly.com/).  This network will provide citizens space for report any situation that positively or negatively affect our marine resources.  Also, we will have oceanographic, ecological and meteorological data

In this activity we have the cooperation of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) of Puerto Rico, National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Autonomous Municipality of Ponce (MAP), the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, (PUCPR); GeOceanic, Corp., Caribbean Nautical Sports and Sales, Inc., Blue Water SCUBA Puerto Rico, Island Venture, Inc. and the local community of La Playa de Ponce

The research and work team will be directed by  Dr. Conrado M. Calzada-Cordero (OWSI 12772) professor of Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico.
