Climb Snowdon in full Scuba Gear

Begins
Ends
United Kingdom

On Saturday 7th May, Bethan Paice, a Divemaster from Basingstoke's Ocean Turtle Diving , is climbing Mount Snowdon, dressed in full scuba gear, to raise money for Alzheimer's Society https://www.justgiving.com/ScubaUpSnowdon/

The charity is close to Bethan's heart since her grandmother suffers from the disease.  Bethan will be supported in her climb by Ocean Turtle Diving's owner and instructor, Kerrie Eade, and fellow Divemaster and dive centre manager, Stefan Taylor.  She will be wearing a wetsuit, buoyancy control device (jacket), heavy scuba cylinder and regulator set, and carrying mask, fins and snorkel!  Bethan estimates the trek up will take in the region of 4-5 hours and is hopeful that the recent snowfall will have melted away in time to make it a little less arduous (much to the disappointment of the other two who fancied a snowball fight!).

The team have the full backing and sponsorship of PADI, the global dive training organisation, and also Scubapro, the dive centre's main supplier, and plan to flood their facebook page (www.facebook.com/OceanTurtleDiving) with live feeds, photos and videos of their progress during the day.

Ocean Turtle Diving is based on the Hassocks Wood Estate in Basingstoke and is a fully stocked dive and snorkel gear stockist, as well as a PADI 5 star training centre, scuba travel agent, kit rental outlet and equipment servicing provider.   01256 819 595 [email protected] www.oceanturtlediving.com

Scuba diving is a fast growing sport and pass time globally and in the UK.  Ocean Turtle Diving's owner Kerrie Eade says "we have seen a 50% year on year increase in people wanted to learn to dive.  It's such an amazing thing to be able to explore the 70% of the planet covered in water that most people never get the privilege to visit.  Swimming belly to belly with a dolphin or watching a majestic Manta Ray dance and glide gracefully in front of you and experiences you will cherish for the rest of your life.  It's really easy and accessible to learn too, with courses for 8 year olds to 100 year olds and online learning options for the theory to keep you at the cutting edge of technology.  Don't leave it until later, now is the time to begin exploring the underwater paradise and fascinating wrecks that surround our island home".
