British Divers Marine Life Rescue boat crew carry out afloat clean-up of plastic waste
Ends
British Divers Marine Life Rescue is a UK charity which is dedicated to the welfare of marine wildlife in distress around the UK coast. This plastic debris was collected during a boat training tasking for 4 volunteer Marine Mammal Medics (including 1 PADI MSDT, 1 PADI OWSI and 1 PADI Master Scuba Diver). Floating plastic fishing net, sheeting and other materials were spotted from the boat and picked up for disposal onshore. As well as making for a cleaner ocean, collecting debris from a boat is an excellent way to practice picking up divers or a man overboard (MOB). As volunteer marine mammal medics, collecting plastic debris like this helps us prevent wildlife distress instead of responding to it.
