There are 2 river outlets, or locally known ghauts, that run to the beach at this site. These ghauts run down through villages and carry waste with them.

A wrapped unused condom

Beveridge cans - collecting in pockets along the shore side of the reef

Clothing - entangled around coral, smothering and hindering its growth

Polystyrene - although collected from beach along the shore line they were saved from detroying the reef

We have had a mixed bag of assistance with our Dive Against Debris and Beach CleanUp efforts. This months clean up came with a team packed of enthusiastic conservationists from Coral Cay Conservation to which we are very grateful! We are also extremely grateful to all those who assist on the beach. It doesn't require underwater skills to help save and protect our oceans, it all starts on the land.
