La Balsa River Clean Up

updates

On the 1st of August, a group of us (5) jumped into Mooloolaba river, La Balsa Park to collect up debris in the area. La Balsa river is a very popular fishing site and collects up lots of fishing line. It is home to thousands of nudibranchs and various fish, where their habitat is being affected by the fishing line in the area. Along with fishing line and marine debris, we took a stroll along the shore edge and collected trash that was found in and amoung the rocks. We filmed the whole process and put it up on youtube. This video has got good feedback with divers reaching out to join the next clean up.
