As i exited the water there was a group of people in purple vests wondering around the beach. As i discovered later, they are volunteers for a Marine Debris monitoring agency! I was VERY happy to see others on that beach taking care of the environment!
Most of it was the usual stuff other than the huge plastic sheet. The typhoon revealed many rocky areas I had never seen before...shifting sands to cover this, but uncover that. That was a large beach umbrella embedded in sand that had been partially uncovered, but I was unable to remove it.

Typhoon far off shore the previous weekend with 2 meter waters at this divesite. Otherwise 1 day of rain and sunny the others.

As this activity was carried out in partnership with Clique College, Swimming Association of Maldives and Waste Management Corporation and Maldives Red Crescent, the outreach was high especially to youth. The event was also covered by national state media and other local media outlets.
