Lead Shot Balls 252

We know the lead shot came from divers pouches, as members of our staff have previously seen shot balls dropping from pouches.

Lead shot

We weren´t able to remove all the lead shot balls that we found, as we found that they were much harder to remove than expected as they had got themselves stuck in the natural holes in the lava rock. The two photos are before and after shots of one of the lead areas - we have removed a fair amount, but need to return with different tools. We were using needle-nose pliers, but need to return with either tweezers or some form of suction. Seeing as we use 7mm mittens, it is not very easy to operate anything with a small enough point to grab them. We removed as much as we could with the tools we had in the time we could manage to stay in 3 degree water but we fully intend to return and carry on.
