Hundreds of high school students in Cologno Monzese, Milan in Italy took part in a project aimed at bringing the wonders of the sea into the classroom.
Gianluca Pomati, Director of Bucanieri Dive Club, lead this initiative taking the students involved straight into the heart of the ocean with a marine biology course called "Ocean Common Good".

One afternoon on the island of Koh Tao, a poor boat captain watched as his vessel filled with rubbish. Over five hours, ten volunteer divers removed a record amount of trash from one reef.
Some months earlier, in a bid to protect a shallow reef at Hin Ngam, local dive schools and the Save Koh Tao Group installed a ‘No Boat’ Zoning Line. But after the monsoon season New Heaven divers were astonished to find an 80 metre stretch of line covered in bags, ropes, and marine debris.

Action Scuba Montreal has become the first Canadian scuba diving centre to introduce the new 100% AWARE program from the Project AWARE Foundation, further strengthening the dive centre’s ongoing commitment to global environmental conservation activities.

During 2011, Brendon Sing worked his way across Asia, speaking with international schools, national environmental conferences and learning institutes about the importance of shark species, why they’re in trouble and what we can do about it.
In October 2011, after visiting many schools in Bangkok and Thailand, Brendon Sing embarked in a UK Tour and launched his Shark Guardian campaign in the UK.

On December 04th, Just Add Water, a PADI 5-Star IDC located in Willoughby, Ohio, held a Holiday Season Party to thank all their staff and customers for their support and dedication not only to their local dive store but ocean conservation.
The party was the perfect opportunity to announce the winners of the 1% Challenge and AWARE Certification Cards Contest launched by Just Add Water in early 2011. In total, Just Add Water donated prizes valued at more than $600 and raised a whooping $1650 for Project AWARE.

Blue Season Bali (BSB) has long supported Project AWARE. From implementing beach cleanups to running AWARE Specialty courses, the team has never hesitated when it comes to doing their bit for the environment.
But recently the BSB gang have upped the ante and in 2012 they will launch their new Eco Internship program and take eco diving to a whole new level.

As part of the celebration of World Oceans Day 2011, Calypso Diving Resort in the Philippines launched an exciting Shark Protection Donations Programme. Since June 08th 2011, every ocean dive their student divers and customers do, Calypso Diving makes a donation in support of Project AWARE’s shark conservation initiatives. So in short, the more you dive with Calypso Diving the more donations AWARE receives towards giving sharks a fighting chance!

Many people are running marathons or taking part in sports challenge events for a charity but when scuba divers swap their fins for a pair of trainers, their passion for the underwater world turns their personal challenge into a triumph for marine conservation.
On Sunday, 16th October, Arlette Diederiks from the Netherlands ran a half marathon in aid of Project AWARE's new Dive Against Debris programme. Her efforts raised more than $1740.

When Project AWARE called on the diving community to shout out for sharks during Big Shark Shout Out week 15 - 23 Ocbober, Coral Grand Divers in Koh Tao, Thailand responded to the call and put a 3 steps plan together to help give sharks a fighting chance.
