Temple Reef 2: The FAD Reef fights back - March 2015
So, here we go again. Temple Reef has been such a success aftre being installed in October 2013, that it is time for Temple Reef 2 to be constructed.
Temple 1, which consists of 7 Tonnes of wasted concrette, an inverted water storage formwork iron structure in a cone shape, and some floating palm leaves, now is home to 1000s of fish, covering 100s of varieties of marine life. Groupers, Batfish, Baracudda and Nudibranchs are the pick of th bunch here, but dont forget your Silver Moonies, Jacks, Bannerfish and the rest of the crowd. Get lucky and see a Cobia, Ray or Nautilus.
This has helped provide 1000s of fish for local fishermen, who use the site for fishing while divers are not in the water, feeding their families, plus become a breeding ground for life to spread to other areas of the coastline.
Temple 2 will be comprised of 8 Tonnes of concrette, 1 Tonne of iron in a grid pattern (base), 1 Car and bike shell (fully cleaned of oils/debris), and a pinacle of floating leaves and tubes/balls.
It will hopefully be even more trawler resistant than Temple 1.
Stay tuned for more pohots of the installation, and result! (Usually here in Pondicherry, we get results within 1 hour or so) www.templeadventures.com
