New sightseeing hot-spot in Saltstraumen

Debris in 2022 so far
updates

Picking fishing hooks is not a hobby we enjoy. We do this to reduce suffering for crabs, common eider and fish. And we do it so that our diving guests can experience the unique underwater life in Saltstraumen, without getting stuck in fishing lines. We are really tired of picking up this trash, in the same areas over and over again. The littering of one of the world's most spectacular underwater environments is increasing every year.

We have created this "exhibition" to show the few percent of the littering we are able to clean up during 2022. The first picture here was taken just after we made our «exhibition" a week ago (19th June 2022), and shows the 74 kg we have picked up so far this year. It is picked along the routes we dive regularly. Picture two shows what it looked like this morning when we got to work. Reuse is good, but not in this case. We do not pick up fishing hooks so that fishermen can supply themselves, and then throw the «trash» straight out into Saltstraumen marine park again.
