December Update! Proudly Introduce Remora Project as AMD-B's Underwater Cleaning System

To date, our UW Clean-ups followed a combination of #ProjectAWARE and #GreenFins guidelines.
However, as one of his Internship assignments, Risyad created a unique UW Clean-up system he named ‘Remora Project’ (remoras: suckerfish that consume their hosts’ debris and remove their parasites).
Risyad’s system is a safe and effective, non-site specific, system that every diver can use to help battle the ever-growing problem of marine debris. The focus is on removing underwater debris that causes actual and/or potential harm, while leaving behind debris that has become the habitat of (or may be beneficial for) underwater creatures.
This month we focused on The Jetty’s pillars, and collected 15.5 kgs of rubbish, mainly fishing nets.
