Join us for an underwater and beach cleanup event. This time we have gotten permission from DLNR to go underwater in the North Basin small boat harbor where Namaka and the Reel screamer are moored. There should be lots to remove as this hasn't been dove to clean in years. Where: Kawaihae harbor directly across the street from Kohala Divers When: Saturday August 31st at 8:30 AM What to bring: Bring your dive gear if diving. Gear can be rented from Kohala Divers. Must be a certified diver (to dive) and have competent dive skills for a cleanup. Bring a dive buddy or meet one at the event. Tanks are provided for free for cleanup but each diver is responsible for checking them out and back in to Kohala Divers. Gloves (garden gloves work well) A dish to share after cleanup beach chair to hang out after a bit What is Provided by Kohala Coast Dive Club: No charge for tank rentals or fills for the event Filtered drinking water and cold soft drinks Table and table cloths for pot luck Reusable utensils paper plates and napkins Garbage bins Mesh bags for collecting debris some gloves (bring some if you have your own) defog dive flags x2 Fun Prizes!! Who is welcome: Everyone. Divers of course are helpful but we can also use shore support, beach cleaners, trash counters and critter rescue.
