Project AWARE News

You asked we listened! In an effort to make the revised Project AWARE Specialty course easier and more accessible to people of all different locations and nationalities just on time for AWARE Week 2019, we’ve expanded our Project AWARE Specialty resources to include more than 12 different languages.

With a shared belief that no action is too small, PADI® and Project AWARE collaborated to revise the specialty and shift its focus to encourage and increase concrete actions (fins on and fins off) for ocean protection. Launched initially in English for AWARE Week in September 2018, the course builds on Project AWARE's popular 10 Tips for Divers to Protect the Ocean Planet, the revised course content is an introduction to Project AWARE® as a global movement for ocean protection and focuses on guiding participants towards personal commitments and actions they can take to help the environment.

Now available in 12 languages, the revised Project AWARE Specialty provides the perfect tool to be a leader in your local community this AWARE Week (14-22 Sept) and year-round by using the course materials in schools, with the community, youth groups, and others. As a "fins off" course (meaning no dives required), participants need only to have an interest in the aquatic environment or a desire to take action for a clean and healthy ocean to enroll.

People across the globe interested in becoming true agents of positive change for the ocean can now not only pledge to follow the 10 Tips for Divers to Protect the Ocean Planet, but also deepen their knowledge and understanding of how they can make a difference for ocean protection every time they dive and travel, and throughout daily life.
