Living the Miss Scuba Ethos

Dive Against Debris
updates

In the past few hours I have truly experienced all that the Miss Scuba Organisation aspires to achieve.

Myself and the other UK finalists have been empowered to Dive Against Debris and help take part in removing rubbish from the local harbour in Fuertaventura. From the debris that we collected, in our Project Aware mesh bags, I have reported data on the types, quantities and locations of items on their app!! It’s so easy and interesting to review other Dive Against Debris missions all over the world!!

As the only underwater debris data collection program of its kind, Dive Against Debris both improves the health of ocean ecosystems through localized volunteer efforts and provides valuable information about underwater debris to help inform policy change!

3 dives, 20+ passionate local volunteers, 1 huge skip full of debris! ???

Also today, Lucy Kent became a qualified Open Water Diver and Alexandra Prior achieved her master diver status! Yay!!! Well done girls!! ??‍♀️??‍♀️

The Miss Scuba Organisation sets out to inspire the desire in us all to help safeguard our oceans and the competitions’ core aim is to get more women diving. I think it is safe to say that today we lived and breathed (through regulators!!), the ethos of this incredible pageant!!???
