Earth Day Dive Against Debris

Ends
Join Cristal Clear Charters at Ocean Reef Club this Earth day, April 22nd, 2018, for the biggest Dive Against Debris the Florida Keys have ever seen. We are teaming up with other shops for a Keys Wide Dive Against Debris to make a serious impact. Hurricane Irma devastated our beautiful island home and swept tons of trash out to sea. Irma also hurt our local fisheries by destroying ocean buoys and lobster traps which people depend on. We are a small island town but a strong island town and during times like these it is important for us to come together. We are one of the few shops that received a permit from NOAA and FWC to collect tagged lobster traps to return them to their rightful owners. Not only will we be saving the reefs this Earth Day but also helping the local community.
Meet us at the Cristal Clear Dive Shop located in the Fishing Village at Ocean Reef Club at 11:00 AM for paperwork and a brief presentation. The presentation will cover everything you need to know about Debris and how to work as a team to safely remove Debris from the reef. We are going to be doing two dives at two different locations roughly an hour each. Afterwards we will weigh everything we collected and document it for Project Aware closing out the day around 4:00 PM.
Every diver must have gloves and a cutting utensil which our shop will provide. Feel free to bring your own but please no large dive knives. We have gear for rent as well as tanks and weights on board. Feel free to contact us with any questions!
