After achieving an incredible 19 events in 2017, with your help, we plan to make 2018 an even greater success. Please join us for an introduction to retrieval diving on the 6th of January in Brixham. Our group has been rapidly expanding over the past few years and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved at any level, including non-diving. It is Fathoms Free belief that conservation diving should be accessible for all, as such the event is free, with the option to make donations if you wish to do so. You will get a chance to meet the team learn about all about our marine debris and ghost gear retrieval work with the Global Ghost Gear Initiative and how you can get involved in our ambitious plans for 2018. This day will be run in collaboration with the Torbay Cleaner Coasts Initiative, we will be partnering with Living Coasts, Nautilus Dive Charters, TIDE, The Marine Management Organisation, Keep Britain Tidy, The countryside Trust, Brixham Gig club and British Divers Marine Life Rescue. There will be plenty of opportunity throughout the day to get talk to representatives from all these organisations to find out how we are all working together in a coordinated effort to tackle marine plastic and ghost gear. Afterwards, you can join us all for a meal and continue discussions about all the fantastic marine conservation work that you can take part in.

Divers meet at 8am at our Gazebo on Brixham breakwater beach for registration. In addition to being suitably qualified, insured, equipped and experienced to dive in UK conditions, please bring gloves, a mesh bag, a cutting implement and a DSMB or SMB.
