The Blue Orchid Resort’s PADI Dive Centre proudly adopted their stunning house reef as part of PADI’s initiative Dive Against Debris. Each month our team and willing volunteers don their scuba gear and plunge in to collect any rubbish lurking amongst our fabulous corals.

We are immensely proud of the stunning dive site right on our door step and as such, all our staff are always quick to pick up any litter that they find. As a result, our monthly Dive Against Debris have continuously picked up less and less waste.

This month General Manager & PADI Instructor Bill Thomson decided to do things a little differently; he approached the local elementary school and Barangay council as well as some neighboring resorts and set up a beach clean up involving a team of 21 eleven year olds. The day started with a presentation by Bill and colleague Michèle De Jonghe about why we need to reduce plastic waste before the 'No Plastic army' set upon White Beach, amassing a fantastic 91 kg of litter!

The Philippines is a beautiful country with thousands of miles of beautiful shore line and countless mesmerizing dive sites to explore. Our PADI team are lucky to live here, especially with a community so willing to get involved to improve and enhance their environment. These kids returned to their school and started collecting yet more litter in the surrounding area! We feel very proud to have started this snowball and will be planning more activities to keep it rolling.
