General beach front activities and poor waste management regularly contribute to the debris we find every month.
2 matching childrens toys on opposite sides of the reef!
Beverage cans - the mass quantity that grouped together in pockets of reef
Plastic cups - in all sorts of stages of break down, floating and buried in the sand
Plastic retail bags - mostly intact floating along the top of the reef or entangled around branching coral.
Comments and Feedback
It saddens me, and all the regular volunteers at our Dive Against Debris and Clean Up events, that more people are not as keen to lend a hand to help keep this reef beautiful. Our adopted dive site at Carr's Bay marks a historic landmark for Montserrat and our general interest for these events is from visitors and those on island temporarily. We are very grateful to all those who regularly participate to helping keep our oceans clean!
