Additional Information
There are 2 river beds, or locally known ghauts, that lead directly to the beach front. These ghauts pass through villages uphill and carry waste to our shores.
An used wrapped condom
Beveridge cans - collecting in pockets along the shore side of the reef
Clothing - entangled around coral, smothering and hindering its growth
Polystyrene - although collected from beach along the shore line they were saved from detroying the reef
Comments and Feedback
We all way receive a mixed response for assistance at our Dive Against Debris and Beach Clean Up events. This month we had great help from a team of enthusiastic conservationists from Coral Cay Conservation, for which we are very grateful. We are also extremely grateful to all those who assist on the beach. You don't have to have special underwater skills to protect and save our oceans, it all begins on the land!
