Ocean Film Festival Supports Project AWARE for the Fourth Year
Scuba divers and ocean lovers will be able to immerse themselves in the wonders of the ocean without getting their fins and feet wet this March as the Ocean Film Festival kicks off its 2016 World Tour in Australia.
Celebrating its fourth anniversary and hitting a record number of venues, the festival will showcase some of the world's most captivating ocean-themed short films. Each of the selected films conveys a deep respect and appreciation for the world’s oceans and the creatures that call them home.
"Our vision is to show films that inspire our audience to love the ocean, because people will naturally want to protect what they love" says the festival organizer, Jemima Robinson. "We also want to highlight the incredible work and achievements of organizations such as Project AWARE and perhaps motivate people to get involved themselves."

With stunning underwater scenes and fast-paced wave sequences, this year's Ocean Film Festival Australia promises to be a memorable experience. From the comfort of a theatre, its short films celebrate the beauty and power of the ocean as well as the divers, surfers, sailors, paddlers, swimmers and oceanographers who marvel at the mysteries of the big blue.
Mesmerising images of schooling fish, colourful coral gardens and jellyfish blooms are complemented with up-close footage of curious marine creatures such as seals, dolphins, turtles and whale sharks.
Audiences will explore the remote and rugged Alaskan Aleutian chain of islands with two adventurous kayakers attempting a world first. Heart-stopping shots of surfers and wind surfers riding wild waves will leave audiences gasping for breath. Viewers will take a voyage through the tropical waters of the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea in a revolutionary new boat made from jute.
The films encourage viewers to dive headfirst into the world of underwater cinematographers Michele and Howard Hall, celebrate the return of the majestic humpback whales to the Hawaiian waters, and experience the restorative powers of the ocean and its impact on an orphan in Mexico.
The Ocean Film Festival Australia will tour the country in March. Tickets are on sale now and $1 from the ticket sales will be donated to conservation orgs including Project AWARE.
