Clean up dive Lembongan Island Scuba Center Asia

updates

Even though it is high season Scuba Center Asia believes it's important to continue with the monthly clean up dives. So we did!

This time around the 'famous' Lembongan house reef in front of Jungut Batu. The reason this area is famous is because of all the big 'cruises' from Bali with hundreds of people come over for 1 day to beautiful Nusa Lembongan. Because of the huge amount of people the companies decided to built big 'fun' pontoons right on the house reef. Even though that is a discussion point on itself, (not gonna address that in this blog) you can imagine what happens on the house reef of Lembongan when hundreds and hundreds of tourist are put on a pontoon...

Yes indeed...Rubbish everywhere!

With a team of 12 people in total we collected a estimated total amount of 40kg of trash within a 50 min dive! Yes you read that right. Baby diapers, tshirts, cloths, huge peaces of plastic roofing, rubber mats, cans, plastic items, glasses, bottles, fishnets, ropes, etc etc. were found. All in all a huge success if you ask us!

Thanks to all the volunteers who helped us Dive Against Debris!

Let's hope next time we go, the trash will be less.
