More than 200 TEAM Stoked On Salt (SOS) OCEAN CLEAN UP volunteers gathered at Anglin's Fishing Pier in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea to participate in the 2nd Annual SOS Earth Day Clean Up. Volunteers collected debris underwater and on the shoreline weighing over 400 lbs !

The underwater debris consisted of 'tumbleweeds' of monofilament fishing line, lures, lead weights, knives, cell phones, beer cans, glass bottles rods and reels. Shoreline debris collected mainly consisted of plastic bags, straws, takeout containers, cups, beer cans, clothing, ballons, cigarette butts and paper products.

Volunteer divers released a 5 foot nurse shark entangled in fishing line with hook still attached. His was stuck to the rocky corals, very malnourished and barely alive. Once line was cut he swam away. Unfortunately, hook remained in his mouth. 

Team 'SOS Ocean Clean Up' volunteers check the reef every weekend with fingers crossed hoping he is okay.
