2015 Jay Street Bridge Cleanup

updates

So our second major cleanup took place on Friday, September 25th at the Jay Street Bridge in Lock Haven.  Four years ago this area was cleaned and since then a number of storms with high water brought back enough material to warrant another cleanup.

Taking place on a Friday morning it was interesting to see who came.  Two divers  drove over 100 miles to help, while a number of students from the Penn State Scientific Diver program came to help. Divers from the Lock Haven University Scuba Club moved more tires up the embankment to the rollback then anyone could have been asked to do.  PA College of Technology divers helped to start collecting debris days before the cleanup so that in the amount of time we had we knew we could get everything.  Even a couple of local business owners took the day off to participate in the event.

Thanks to the 19 people who managed to pull 66 tires to bring a total material removal to 2520 pounds of trash from the river it's now a better place.
