[9.5.15] Paya Beach, Tioman Debris Collection

On the 9th of May, 2015, RBC Investor and Treasury Services collected data of land debris in Kampung Paya, Pulau Tioman, Malaysia. 65 participants collected data of ocean and land debris. The land debris collected amounted to an estimated 236 kilograms across approximately 250 square metres.

 

Below is the numerical quantity of debris collected solely on land, categorised by section.

 

GLASS AND CERAMIC MATERIALS

  • Beverage bottles (glass): 59
  • Fluorescent light tubes: 6
  • Glass and ceramic fragments: 36

 

METAL MATERIALS

  • Appliances: household: 1 (air conditioner)

 

WOOD MATERIALS

  • Wood fragments: 20

 

CLOTH MATERIALS

  • Cloth fragments: 6

 

PAPER/CARDBOARD MATERIALS

  • Bags (paper): 3
  • Cardboard: packaging and cartons: 4
  • Paper: books, newspapers, magazines, etc.: 7
  • Computing equipment and other electronic devices: 1
  • Shoes, flip flops, sandals, tennis, etc.: 8
