Paradise . . . . Lost?

updates

Our new home is often described as paradise . . . It is. Mnemba Island off the coast of Zanzibar is a tropical island surrounded by crystal clear water, wild dolphins are a daily occurence and a network of pristine coral reefs surround the Coral Cay providing a range of diving to suit all experience levels . . . A recent guest described it as the best diving he has done in over 5,000 dives . . . Having done the best part of 2,000 dives i am inclined to agree. However paradise is not without its pitfalls, and i am of course talking about rubbish . . . . Mnemba escapes this with a loyal team of staff who care deeply about the island and ensure it looks pristine, we are washed by daily tides of inescapable small plastics, but the thankless task is tackled whenever we step foot outside of the office. . . On a recent quiet day the entire team went on a "taka taka" hunt. .  And thankfully came back with very little. A testament to the hard work that is put in by all of the team . . . . Unfortunately, the "big island" of zanzibar . . . Sometimes percieived as the mainland by us castaways is not so free from rubbish . . . We tried to make a change . . . . With a team of merry souls, armed with rakes, plastic bags, water and enthusiasm we tried . . . . Tried to make a difference . . . .
